Photographs and Sketch Maps

A field sketch is a way to record observations and main features of an area. You may be asked to draw a field sketch from a photograph or OS map.

A field sketch should always have a title, labels of main features  and should be in pencil! Watch the video which provides some guidance as to how to draw a field sketch.

Note - You are not being assessed on your artistic ability!

Why not have a go at drawing a field sketch as you look out of your bedroom window?

Photographs

An aerial photograph is an image taken from an aeroplane to show the main features of the landscape and spatial patterns.

A satellite photograph is a high resolution image taken by satellites in space. These cover very wide areas, but provide less detail than close up images.
